AT-KABUL: The National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar has strongly reacted to the disrespect towards the former President, Hamid Karzai, and said the ex-president was the most respectful person the country’s modern history.
In a statement issued by his office, Atmar called Karzai “an important and influential figure in Afghanistan’s modern history and honorable personality for all Afghans”.
“Hamid Karzai is not only the former president of Afghanistan, but also a dignified, respected leader and national figure,” Atmar added.
He condemned the moves to insult the former president and warned that such moves against the former or current president or other national figures would have negative outcomes.
“Some specific circles used by outsiders acted shamelessly to ignore Afghan culture, values of respecting elder and personalities,” he added.
“Any such act of disrespect and offense towards our elders and national figures will not be tolerated by Afghan nation and the government.”
