Avalanche kills 8 in Badakhshan

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least eight people have been killed and 16 others received injuries when avalanche hit Shar-e-Bozerg district of northeastern Badakhshan province, the Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) said on Monday.

Sayed Humayun Dehqan, the (ANDMA) head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident happened Sunday afternoon when some workers were passing through Wandiyan village.

“Eight people were killed and 16 others injured in the incident. Eight of the wounded individuals are said to be in critical condition.”

He added that the dead bodies and injured were retrieved by a local rescue team. “The victims were later evacuated to hospital.”

He added another team from the (ANDMA) directorate and allied organizations was on the way to provide cash assistance of families of the injured and dead.
