Blast kills three police in Herat

KABUL: A roadside mine blast has killed three police personnel and wounded three others in Kohistan district in the western Herat province, officials said on Sunday.

Provincial Police Spokesman, Abdul Ahad Walizad said the incident took place alongside the Islam-Qala highway after a military vehicle hit a roadside bomb planted by the militants.

The Taliban have not stated anything in regards.

The blast was the second one that took place within the past one week alongside the highway.

This comes as the Afghan senate committee on Sunday expressed its deepest concern over a surge in insecurity recently in Afghanistan.

The senators also voted to summon the Afghan military authorities in their next session to do inquiry over security deterioration.
