Border police officer killed in Farah

AT-KABUL: A high-ranking official of the Afghan Border Police was killed along with his bodyguard in Farah province.

The district chief of Pishtkoh, Abdul Rahim Haidari, said that commander of the border police Brigadier Juma Gul was killed in a landmine blast in the district near the border with Iran.

He said that Juma Gul’s vehicle hit the landmine the other day at 6:00pm.

According to eyewitnesses, commander of the western border zone (Farah) was in the Ranger model pickup when the landmine exploded. He was returning to the station after attending a meeting with the border police.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
