BSA proved unproductive: Senators

AT-KABUL: A number of lawmakers at Meshrano Jirga (Upper House of Parliament) on Tuesday questioned the effectiveness of Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) terming it unproductive in bringing peace and stability rather insecurity has been grown.

The senators once again reiterated call for cancelation of agreement, insisting that US is not committed to sable Afghanistan and do nothing to preserve its national interest.

They alleged that US is not honest to implement BSA in true sprits, emphasizing on cancelation of Kabul-Washington security agreement.

Senator, Zalmai Zabuli said that US must address the current insecurity, otherwise BSA should be revoked. “Security situation is getting worse on passing each day, and loath of US government in this regard leaves no excuse to terminate BSA, because the main purpose of this pact is to bring peace, and maintain security.”

BSA was signed during first working day of National Unity Government, a pact that former President Hamid Karzai restrained to ink. Karzai wanted peace and security to come first then he will sign the BSA. He also demanded a fully halt to the bombardments of Afghan houses and villages in the purpose of war on terror.

First Deputy Speaker of the Senate House, Mohammad Alam Ezadyar reacted over nonappearance of security officials to the Senate, saying election, security situation and the bilateral agreement with US were the main reason behind security bras impeachment.

According to constitution, their absences is under objection and criticism of the Senate House.
