Cashes continue for third day in Kunduz city

AT-KABUL: The security forces are fighting Taliban insurgents for three days in different parts of the Kunduz city.

“Afghan forces recaptured Pohantoon, Bandar-e-Sherkat and Bandar-e-Kabul areas and security is improving in the city,” army spokesman for Kunduz Mahfuzullah Akbari said.

He said that fighting and clearance operation were going on by Afghan forces in Khanabad and Charkhab areas.

“The Kabul-Kunduz and Kunduz-Takhar highways were reopened after three days,” Akbari added.

He said the Taliban had hidden in residential houses in some areas and Afghan forces continue to operation carefully in order to prevent civilian casualties.

Some shops are opened in the city, but still people are in a horror condition, he noted.

Over 40 Taliban militant killed during clashes by Afghan forces in the past two days, he claimed.

Power cables cut during clashes by Taliban and some part of city deprived of electricity, he underlined.
