CEO praises Afghan forces’ battlefield gains

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday praised the Afghan security forces’ gains in the campaign against terrorist groups.

Abdullah considered suppressing Daesh group in Nangarhar and regaining several districts great achievements by Afghan security forces in the battlefield.

“Our security forces have many achievements in the past weeks and months. Clearing Gezab district, opening water route of Nuristan province, opening Maimana highway, clearing Pechiragam district and seizing drugs and launching successful operations across the country,” said Abdullah.

He noted that we would have a better security next year with the great winter plans of this year.

“The security forces would focus more to target the main centers and hideouts of the enemy,” he said, and added “We rebuilding security forces, attention to martyrs family and attracting more people to security ranks.”

Previously, the Pentagon, Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, Brigadier General Wilson Shoffner, had praised the capability of Afghan security forces. Taliban were unable to hold ground in Afghanistan as Afghan security forces got better in their performances in 2015, he said. “Under ISAF, we were helping to support the Afghan security forces, helping to build their capacity, and we are no longer doing the fighting and the Afghan security forces have that all on their own,” he said. “This was their first year when they had the fight all on their own,” he said, referring to 2015 year operation conducted by the Afghan security forces.
