AT Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The foreign ministry of China said that there have been steady progresses made in all undertakings in Xinjiang state of China.

Talking to a press conference, Chinese Deputy Director-General of the Publicity Department, Xu Guixiang said that the security has been surging across Xinjiang.

“Firstly, the overall situation in Xinjiang is stable,” he added. “Frequent terrorist and violent activities have been the thing of past. No single case of violent terrorism has been occurred in Xinjiang for the past four years.”

He said the number of criminal, public security and endangering public security cases have been significantly dropped.

“Stick to the new development philosophy, we have achieved high quality development of economy. From 2014 to 2019, the GDP in Xinjiang rose from 919.59 billion yuan to 1.35 trillion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 7.2%; the general public budget revenue rose to 157.77 billion yuan from 128.23 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 5.7%. Continued improvement of infrastructures,” he added.

He said that over 10 million people have shifted to new residence and that social security has been also developed. The townships and villages have access to standardized health care centers, he added.  “More than 3 million people were lifted out of poverty under the current poverty line. Poverty was eliminated in 3666 poverty-stricken villages and 32 towns.”

In respond to a question asked by the EFE Spanish News Agency about the re-education camps in Xinjiang, Ilijan Anayat, spokesperson of the Information Office of Xinjiang People’s Government said that China “firmly emphasized” that there has been no “so called” re-education camps in Xinjiang.

“The vocational education and training centers legally established in Xinjiang were actually schools with the character of deradicalization,” he added.

“Of course, counter-terrorism and deradicalization is a long-term and arduous mission. Some violent terrorists and separatists are still trying to incite and deceive, and it cannot be ruled out that individuals may be deceived, but we believe that the vast majority of the people are clear-minded and have already seen through their ugly face and evil intentions, and thus will not follow those bad guys, he added.

“For individual people who may be affected by terrorism and extremism, we will provide them with assistance, education and guidance in strict accordance with relevant Chinese laws and regulations, so as to enhance their capability to guard against infiltration of erroneous thoughts and avoid taking the road of crimes,” he added.
