Kabul: “Thomas Nicholson”, the EU’s special representative for Afghanistan, says that he believes that the civil war in Afghanistan is not in the interest of the people of this country.
Nicholson tweeted that he agrees with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the return of civil war in Afghanistan is not in the interest of Central Asia.
He further added: “I also fully believe that this is not in the interest of the people of Afghanistan.”
Russian President Putin recently said at the meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia known as “CICA” that Afghanistan is one of the most acute challenges for the security of the region.
Earlier, the European Union’s special representative for Afghanistan said in his statement that solving Afghanistan’s problems through dialogue with the Taliban is the priority of the European Union.
He added: “Taliban has not held a Jirga in order to gain internal legitimacy in which men and women from all ethnic groups are present.”
Nicholson said that the European Union is in favor of an Afghanistan where all its citizens enjoy their human rights and freedom of citizenship.
