Clashes Between Islamic Emirate, Pakistan in Spin Boldak Leave 2 Dead, Over 20 Wounded

AT News

KABUL: The clashes erupted between the forces of the Islamic Emirate and the Pakistani military alongside the Durand line at Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar, leaving two people dead and over 20 others wounded.

Provincial health officials confirmed said that they received two dead and 27 wounded from the clashes in Spin Boldak.

The clashes are said to erupt after the Pakistani forces opened fire on the Islamic Emirate who were trying to erect a checkpoint.

The Islamic Emirate’s Spokesman downplayed the issue as local clashes between the forces of the two sides, saying that the situation has become under control.

“Unfortunately, the Pakistani forces opened fire first. The officials of the two sides are aware (of the issue) and the situation is under control now. We will investigate why the incident happened,” he said on Twitter.

“There were many mortars fired. One of them hit here, another one hit on the other side. There were also many wounded,” said a resident.

“Nearby the (Durand Line) there is a checkpoint of the Mujahideen (Islamic Emirate). There was firing on the checkpoint and then the checkpoint responded and it led to firing with heavy weapons,” said a resident.

This comes as the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly stressed that they would not allow fencing on the Durand Line.
