Commandos break siege, reinforced ANA base in Wardak

KABUL: The Ministry of Defense said that Afghan commandos broke the siege and reinforced Afghan National Army (ANA) base in central Maidan-Wardak province.

The Afghan commandos had successfully accomplished the mission to break the siege of an ANA base in Jalriz of central Maidan Wardak province on Sunday night, the Defense ministry said on Monday.

The wounded army personnel were shifted to the hospital, the statement said, adding, Taliban rebels received casualties during the rescue operation and the surrounding areas were cleared from their presence.

Earlier, in a video clip, wounded soldiers were shown, and the soldiers complained over lack of weapon supplies and delay in evacuation of the wounded soldiers.
