KABUL: The ministry of public health reported 3,990 cases of Covid-19 with additional fatalities of 188 deaths during the past 48 hours.
On Thursday, the number of cases surpassed 2,313 with 101 deaths, showing the highest number of infection and deaths in one single day since the pandemic outbreak in Afghanistan.
The Friday’s tally was 1,677 while 87 others died. The total number of infection reached 100,521, of whom 4,300 died.
Kabul is on top with recording (316), followed by Herat (89), Kandahar (53), Balkh (126), Nangarhar (142), Kunduz (64), Baghlan (118), Faryab (78), Maidan Wardak (76), Helmand (37), Paktia (40), Badakhshan (8), Ghazni (62), Laghman (24), Panjshir (335), Kunar (5), Zabul (10), Badghis (9), Ghor (29), Uruzgan (6), Paktika (16), Khost (3) and Samangan (31) provinces.
Afghanistan has recently seen a spike in the number of infection as the country is going through the third-wave of the virus. The number of cases and death is said to be undercounted as the Afghan health system is struggling with lack of medical supplement.
