Covid-19 cases close to 12k in Afghanistan

KABUL: With recording of 658 new covid-19 cases within past 24 hours, the tally has reached to 11, 831 across Afghanistan, as the country is going through its peaking glassy of the pandemic virus.

According to a statement issued by the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, Kabul is on top with recording 237 cases during this period. At least 85 cases in western Herat, 77 cases in northern Balkh, 59 in Baghlan, 52 in Badghis, in western Farah, 52 cases, 29 cases in Faryab, 27 in eastern Nangarhar and 11 cases in central Bamiyan provinces were recorded, according to the statement.

10 people in southern Paktia, seven people in Logar, six people in Kapisa, four people in Sar-e-Pull and an average of one person in Talkhar and Samangan were infected by the coronavirus. 

The health ministry announced that at least 31 people have been recovered that brought the total recovery to over 1,100. Around 225 patients have lost their lives battling the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country. 

The Afghan health officials warned that the coronavirus would turn into a human disaster if the citizens did not observe medical recommendations and lockdowns rule and regulation.

“If the people do not observe the lockdowns, we will see the fallen of dead on the streets,” warned, deputy minister of health, Wahid Majroh.
