Cultural center built in Bamiyan

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A cultural center has been built in central Bamiyan province which is expected to boost cultural and artistic activities there.

Bamiyan hosts huge number of tourists every year who visit the province to watch the Buddha sculptures, Band-i-Amir and other historical sites. Culture and Arts Center was inaugurated to host theatrical shows, music concerts, poetry sessions and other entertaining performances by Bamiyan youth.

Chairman of the center, Asadullah Rahnaward, said members of the cultural center will play the role of a bridge between cultural, civil society and other artistic institutions.

He said there are 30 cultural organizations in Bamiyan but what they lack is coordination therefore the center will try to bring the bodies together in a bid to improve and support cultural activities in the province.

Welcoming construction of the center, the provincial director of Information and Culture Department, Kabir Dadras, said members of the center have very good experience in arts, theater and cinema.

He said it is necessary to have such centers in the province as it will be as the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) cultural center in near future.
