AT-KABUL: Afghan intelligence operatives on Wednesday detained a key member of the Islamic State terrorist group, who was making bombs in eastern Nangarhar province.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) in a statement said that terrorist has been identified as Azizullah, and was operating as explosives expert of militants loyal to Daesh terrorist group.
The detained militants was involved in different subversive activities in the province, the statement said.
The statement said that the militant, who was professional in making bombs was arrested along with 12kg of explosives in a crackdown carried out in Watapoor area of Kama district in Nangarhar province.
The detained expert, was also involved in planting roadside bombs in the province.
Two mines with other ammunitions also seized and confiscated from the possession where the insurgent detained, the statement furthered.
Daesh fighters are active in different district of Nangarhar province, where they commonly target Afghan security forces and civilians.
The destination comes as key Daesh commander Saad Emarati was killed in a face to face clash with Afghan troops in Sarai Bazar area of Kot district on Tuesday.
Defense ministry in a statement said that Afghan security forces raided Daesh fighters’ hideouts in the Achin and Kot districts, killing 123 including a deputy military commander and arresting 20 others.
The airstrike targeted the Daesh big hideout after receiving exact intelligence information, where a number of foreign fighters also were killed, according to the statement.
