KABUL: The ministry of public health announced 132 new coronavirus cases that were registered in the last 24 hours across the country. The surge in new infections worried health officials because this virus could spread rapidly in the society, especially during winter season. Afghanistan is on the eve of the winter, and the health officials called on the Afghan masses to put masks in the public and observe social distancing to help stop the wild spread of the virus.
132 positive cases were recorded out of 435 suspicious samples, the health ministry said Monday. During this period of time, 16 patients were recovered and five others died.
The new cases push the total tally to 41,633 thus far. 34,342 patients have been recovered fully and 1,541 others have lost their lives battling the virus.
Health officials had earlier warned the people that the virus still exists in the society. The officials recommended the people to wear masks, take precautionary measures and behold social distance.
