Deadly explosions killed 120 people in Kabul: UN

AT KABUL: The United Nations has urged greater security for minorities following the Islamic State claimed blasts that killed and injured more than 120 people in Kabul recently.

The United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMA) wrote on its Twitter: “Following the Islamic State-claimed blasts in Kabul in recent days that killed and injured more than 120 people, the UN family in Afghanistan urges greater security for minorities so that Ashura can be marked without further attacks.”

Two deadly explosions occoured in kabul’s Sare kariz and Pole sokhta on friday and saturday respctively, leacing many people dead and injured, in occation of Muharram.

The Ministry of Interior during a security meeting has asked its officers to ensure the security of Ashura precession nationwide.

Interior Minister Chief of Staff Mawlavi Zainullah Abir asked police chiefs to ensure the security of their areas.

Today (Monday) marked the Ashura 10th which is commemorated in Muslim nations with religious zeal and respect.
