Death toll from Kabul bombing jumps to 69
AT-KABUL: The fatality of Sunday deadly suicide bombing has jumped to 69 martyred, including two policemen, and to120 injuries, including five policemen, a police official said on Monday.
A suicide bomber loyal to the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh terrorist, blew himself up near to a people waiting in lines at a voter registration site in Qala-e-Nazer area in Police District 6th west of Kabul city, in which dozens of innocent civilians were martyred and wounded.
The heart-wrenching incident occurred at around 10:00am local time on Sunday morning, against a group of people approached voting registration center to obtain voting cards.
Briefing newsmen, Kabul Police Spokesman, Hashmatullah Stanikzai said among the martyred 27 are women, seven children, and two policemen.
This is not the first time a voter registration centre comes under attack. Several rampages have occurred in registration sites in Ghor and other provinces. Taliban has warned people not to take part in voter registration process. This attack on voter registration campaign will further spark fear and people will refrain from registering for the elections.
Another incident took place in Badghis. The Taliban insurgents attacked a check post of security forces that was established to ensure security of voter registration center.
The incident went off in Baghbana area of the center of Badghis, in which nine soldiers were martyred, and this is another attack against voting process.
