Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: Two members of the high council of the Supreme Court (SC), governor of the Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), and minister-designate for defense Masoom Stanikzai were officially introduced to the Wolesi Jirga (WJ) on Wednesday for vote of confidence.
The second vice-president Muhammad Sarwar Danish introduced Stankizai and the three other nominees.
President Ashraf Ghani has already appointed Masoom Stanikzai as the acting defense minister a month ago, before he was officially nominated for the slot. Stanikzai has served as secretary of the High Peace Council.
Sayed Yusuf Halem has been nominated as member of the high council of the Supreme Court. He has worked at different positions in Ministry of Justice. He also served as acting minister of justice nearly two years ago when Habibullah Ghalib died.
Anisa Rasoli was also nominated as member of the high council of the Supreme Court. She also worked at different posts in the justice ministry of Afghanistan.
Khalillulah Seddiq was nominated as governor of the Da Afghanistan Bank. He has already worked as chief, deputy chief and adviser of the central bank.
The vice-president said the nominees were highly qualified and experienced persons. He hoped that they would get the vote of confidence.
Stanikzai was also brought to the Wolesi Jirga for the purpose, but the session ended when terrorists attacked the parliament.
Danish also vowed to introduce the remaining members of the apex court’s high council along with Attorney General in the near future.
