Defense Minister’s Driver Killed in Kabul

KABUL: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on the driver of the minister of defense in PD 9 of Kabul city, killing him and his son.

Kabul police spokesman, Ferdaws Faramarz confirmed the incident but didn’t provide further details.

But some security sources, who wished to go unnamed, said that Mohammad Afzal was a relative of the minister of defense, Asadullah Khalid and was working as his driver.

Kabul police said that the motive behind the incident could be family dispute. The body was shifted to the Afghanistan Forensic Center.

No militant groups have asserted responsibility for the attack so far.

Kabul has seen an upswing in the targeted-killings of government employee, security personnel, activists and as well media professionals.
