Different reactions to Khalilzad’s Kabul visit

AT-KABUL: People’s representatives in the parliament pose different reactions to the US special envoy for Afghan peace, Zalmay Khalilzad’s recent visit to Kabul and meeting President Ashraf Ghani and other senior officials.

Members of senate say that peace in Afghanistan depended on the honesty from the regional and world countries, while Washington was not honest.

They argued that peace was impossible in Afghanistan unless neighboring countries come under pressure by the international community.

The senators said Tuesday that Khalilzad was well aware of the country’s situation, so he should take serious measures regarding the peace process.

Senators also reacted to Taliban’s statement over targeting polling stations on the day of election, asking the security officials to take the threat serious and not to allow anyone to sabotage the election.

Taliban said they would attack on those people who are working for the success of election. Security organs said more than 50,000 troops were stationed to keep election secure.
