AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Around 25 Afghan migrants were arrested during a search operation in Peshawar, the capital city of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Saturday.
“At least 63 suspects, including 25 Afghans were detained during search operations on Friday,” Pajhwok Afghan News, quoted a local police official, Riaz Khan, as saying.
Arms and drugs were also seized from some of them, he said, asserting that operations were carried out in Sarband, Hayatabad and Pishtakhara areas.
According to him, policewomen and sniffer dogs also participated in the raids.
It is not for the first time that Afghans in Peshawar are being detained as earlier police arrested 57 Afghan nationals in Khber Pakhtunkhw province. In that time state-run Radio Pakistan reported that Afghans were apprehended during search operation.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is a suited close to the Afghan border where Afghan mostly travels for treatment of meeting their relatives.
