Drone strike kills five militants in Nuristan

AT-KABUL: Five militants have been killed in a drone strike in eastern Nuristan province, said an official source.

The source said that NATO troops conducted the drone strike the other day in Mardesh area of Want Waigal district of the province.  The strike has targeted a hideout of militants killing five militants.

The killed people include a local commander of the Taliban named Ghulamullah.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban militants captured Want Waigal district on Friday. However, Afghan security forces managed to retake control of the district in the same day.

The NATO troops have increased their drone strikes against the Taliban militants in eastern provinces of Afghanistan. Military experts believe that the drone strikes are effective in fight against militants in mountainous areas.
