ED: Psychological warfare

Psychological warfare is an action used to target the enemy’s morale, a scenario that the Taliban insurgents have been engaged in for longtime, but resulted to nowhere. Psychological warfare, or the basic aspect of modern psychological operations have been known by many other names or terms, including psychological ops, political warfare, heart and minds, and propaganda. The term is used to denote any action which is practiced mainly by psychological methods with the aim of evoking a planned psychological reaction in other people. Various other techniques are also used and are aimed at influencing a target audience’s value system, belief system, emotions, motives, reasoning, or behavior. However, the important fact is that it also uses to destroy the moral of enemies through tactics that aim to depress troops’ psychological states—something which Taliban insurgents and other terrorist outfits have been playing to earn support from the Afghan masses. They (Taliban) want to wag psychological battle as much as a physical one. Already understood that can’t confront the iron hand of the brave Afghan security forces in the battlefield. The Taliban are very notorious for their propagating materials. When the group seizes control of a district, claim that tens of security forces were killed and wounded. Once checked with officials, and residents of the captured district, one can easily find that it was part of propaganda. However, they reached reach their zenith when claimed that their leader’s son carried out suicide attack. Recently, the Taliban insurgents released an astonishing bit of propaganda information about attack took place in Gereshk district of Helmand province, claiming that one of the suicide bombers was the son of their supreme leader, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada. Last week Taliban fighters drove three stolen Humvess vehicle packed with explosives into Afghan security outposts in Gereshk province. Afghan officials did not confirm this, while, even some insurgent commanders in the north, said they did not know whether the reports were accurate. Government Media and Information Center Director, Sediq Sediqi disputed the claim on twitter. “They lied, it is part of their propaganda, Taliban’s families and leaders are having luxuries life in Pakistan and Qatar,” he tweeted. The real face of Taliban insurgents are akin to open book to all Afghans. We have read out every chapter, finding the Taliban insurgents are the most brutal as even don’t show mercy to the women and children. In the latest suicide attack in Kabul, claimed by the Taliban insurgents, 36 people were killed and over 40 others received injuries. 15 employees of the Ministry of Mines were among the killed individuals—two of them were masters, and 10 of them were bachelor holders. Like this, the group killed and wounded numerous of innocent and elite people. They can’t earn people’s trust through psychological warfare. The Afghan masses are mature enough, and can’t deceive with such propagating materials.
