Eight drug traffickers sent behind bars

KABUL: At least eight drug runners have been found guilty of drug trafficking and were sent behind bars during the past one week.

A statement by the courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said that two drug traffickers sentenced to two-five years’ incarceration after examining their dossiers by primary and the remaining six drug dealers were sentenced to different periods of prison by the appeal court of CJTF.   

Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized 8kg heroin, 2kg morphine, 220kg hashish and over 1kg crystal from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, the statement mentioned. 

At the same period, CNP has arrested 36 suspected drug traffickers in different provinces.

According to the statement, after examining the evidence and arguments from both sides, the CJTF court has convicted the accused traffickers.

All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics Law of Afghanistan. 

It is pertained to mention that 13 drug dealers, including two women were sentenced to different periods of prisons by the primary and appeal court during two weeks.
