Ex-director of religious affairs killed in Nimroz

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Unidentified gunmen have killed an ex-director of Hajj and Religious Affairs in southwestern Nimroz province, it has been reported.

According to the reports the ex-director Sayed Nazir Sadat was going back to his home from mosque when unknown gunmen killed him in Zaranj, the provincial capital of Nimroz.

Confirming the assassination, a police officer Mohammmad Ghaws said that two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on Sadat.

Police reached the crime scene but the attackers escaped. An investigation has been launched to bring the culprits to the book. No group has claimed responsibility for the murderous attack.

There has been drastic surge in the assassination attacks on current and former officials.
