Fateha organized in Kabul for ANP leader Afzal Khan

AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Information and Culture and the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs jointly arranged Fateha ceremony for the departed soul of the veteran Awami National Party (ANP) leader, Afzal Khan Lala, in Eidgah Mosque in Kabul on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by the former President Hamid Karzai, high-ranking officials, lawmakers, professors, cultural figures, tribal elders, renowned writers and poets.

Hamid Karzai extended his condolences to the family and friends of Afzal Khan Lala and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest his soul in the eternal peace.

Khan Lala is considered as the emblem of resistance, because when the Taliban militants captured Swat, the Pashtun nationalist leader stood beside his people and refused to leave the valley. He had exerted indefatigable efforts for strengthening unity among Afghans.

Khan Lala passed away last week on Sunday due to chronic liver disease. He was 89-year old.
