Fighting graft: Lecturers’ heads shaved in Ghazni varsity as punishment

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Officials in Ghazni province have adopted a whole unique way to fight corruption as they shaved heads of two lecturers.

According to a news report published by Khaama Press on Friday, the provincial Attorney General Office (AGO) officials have launched probe into allegations leveled against the two lecturers of the Ghazni University. The teachers identified as Habibullah Kashefi and Nasir Aryan were detained by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives and the provincial AGO officials.

According to sources, the teachers were supporting irregular and dull students in the examinations as some of the talented students who worked hard and attended the classes on regular basis were prevented from entering into the examination hall.

However, the lecturers rejected the allegations and termed their arrest a conspiracy hatched by the provincial AGO and the NDS operatives.

The teachers urged the government to probe the incident and punish them if they were found guilty; “otherwise exemplary punishment should be given to the officials who detain teachers,” Habibullah Kashefi said.
