Five civilians kidnapped in Balkh

KABUL: A number of unknown armed men have kidnapped five civilians in northern Balkh province, said official on Monday.

Spokesman for Balkh acting governor, Munir Ahmad Farhad, said the five men were traveling in a 4Runner vehicle when they were kidnapped by the unknown gunmen.

He said the kidnapped men are residents of Dara-e-Suf district of Samangan province.

According to him, the abducted men were on the way form Sholgra district of Balkh to Mazar-e-Sharif city when the unknown armed men stopped their car in Bagh Pahlawan village.

He also said that investigation was kicked off in this regard. He added that motive behind abduction of the passengers has not been clarified yet.
