KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday has reported three more cases of coronaviurs, also known as Covid-19 in western Herat province, putting the totally number to four. These individuals had recently returned from Iran—a source of virus outbreak in the country.
Public Health Minister, Ferozudin Feroz in a press conference said the samples of three suspect coronavirus cases from Herat were tested in central laboratories that unfortunately were positive.
“The total numbers of the infected coronavirus cases have reached to four.”
These four patients are from Herat province and currently under treatment in an Isolation Ward in the province. The infected people are all returned from Iran, so far there is no risk of Covid-19 spread in the country, he added.
“Infected persons are under care in a well-equipped health center, which kept away from society.”
According to MoPH statement, 36 suspected cases samples of coronavirus from Herat were collected and tested in the past 24 hours that only three of them were confirmed positive.
Around two weeks ago MoPH had registered the first coronavirus case in Herat province. The person, who detected with coronvirus infection, had recently returned from Qum city of Iran the neighboring country.
By recording the first case of coronavirus, health ministry in coordination with WHO and National Security Council MoPH had announced emergency situation in Herat as a step to halt the spread of the virus.
In that time, health ministry had advised all compatriots to avoid unnecessary travelling to Herat and from Herat to other provinces.
