AT-KABUL: Army in ground and air operation, destroyed four drug laboratories of the Taliban insurgents, in northeastern Badakhshan province, officials said on Monday.
The drug laboratories have been functional in the remote and insecure Argo district of the province, in which Afghan forces completely destroyed them, Nasratullah Jamshidi, a spokesman for the Army’s 209th Shaheen Army Corps said.
As a result of drug labs demolish, tens of kilograms of drugs were also flattened in the district, he said, while informed of ongoing crackdown to bulldoze more Taliban’s drug factories.
“We hope with ongoing military operation to discover and destroy more Taliban drug factories in the next few days,” Jamshidi said.
Along seizure of weapons and motorcycles during operation, one armed men also detained.
It is worth mentioning that Taliban insurgents are active in some remote parts of the district, from where, the Taliban insurgents running drug factories and also collect money from illegal mining.
A month ago, Afghan and foreign forces destroyed nine Taliban drug factories and labs, killing 44 suspects trafficker in a border area of southern Helmand province. The combined offensive is aimed at targeting the revenue streams of terrorists.
