Four Police killed in western Herat province

By M Parwiz Arian

KABUL: At least four members of the Afghan security forces were killed and one was injured after their car was hit by a terrorist planted land mine in western Herat province, officials said Tuesday.

The incident took place Tuesday morning on Herat-IslamQala highway of Herat province, provincial governor, Wahid Qatali confirmed.

The injured officer was transferred to hospital for treatment.

Qatali said the roadside bomb was placed along the highway by the terrorist Taliban to target members of the security forces.

Related bodies are investigating the bombing for further details.

Taliban have increased their armed attacks and targeted killings throughout the country, particularly after signing a peace agreement with the United States in Doha in February, 2020.

The group has completely stopped their attacks on foreign troops in the country, but instead accelerated the attacks on Afghan security forces and civilians.

Sticky bombs, targeted killings in urban areas and armed attacks on remote and isolated check posts of the security forces are the common types of the Taliban attacks in the past one year.
