Ghani, Nawaz discuss relations in Ashgabat

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani and Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif met Saturday on the sidelines of an international conference in Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan, a media report said.

The leaders of the two neighboring states discussed the already tense bilateral relations and also the regionals issues.

Ghani and Sharif attended the two-day Global Sustainable Transport Conference (GSTC) in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on Saturday to highlight the fundamental role of sustainable transport in fighting climate change.

Afghan and Pakistan leaders comes after mistrust between the two states have reached at boiling point.

The Afghan government blame Pakistan for not acting against elements who engineer attacks against Afghan security forces and people. Several Afghan officials said that killing of top leaders of the terrorist groups are the clear indication of Pakistan’s support to the militant outfits.

Not only Afghan forces, but foreign forces were also killed in Afghanistan by those terrorist sheltered by Pakistan. Top US security officials came harsh on Pakistan for sheltering militants in its soil.

However, Pakistani officials reject allegations that Pakistani intelligence agency supporting the Taliban-led insurgency in Afghanistan and letting them to use safe hideouts on their soil.

Islamabad rejects the charges and instead blames Afghan authorities for harboring anti-Pakistan militants.

Recently, Pakistani officials deported millions of Afghan refugees back to Afghanistan which caused further tense between the both countries.
