Ghani to visit India next month

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: On the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ashraf Ghani is likely to pay his first visit to India in April, said reports on Monday.

India’s New Indian Express reported that Narendra Modi had invited Ghani to India on the sidelines of SAARC summit in Kathmandu in November.

Earlier this week, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah visited India where he met with Indian high-ranking officials including Vice-President Mohamed Hamid Ansari.

According to the report, the Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum and the deputy CEO Engineer Mohammad Khan are likely to join Ghani in the trip.

Ghani is expected to brief Indian high-ranking officials about the ongoing peace efforts of the Afghan government.
