AT-KABUL: The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) has appointed Seema Jowenda as the new provincial governor for Ghor while relieving Sayed Anwar Rahmati of his duties.
The IDLG on Sunday said that the appointment has been sanctioned by President Ashraf Ghani after the recommendation of IDLG.
The IDLG’s spokesman, Tawab Ghorzang, confirmed the appointment of the governor on Twitter. “Seema Juienda has been appointed as a new Governor of Ghoor Province,” he tweeted.
Ms. Jowenda also served as member of the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of the Parliament. She represented Ghor province in the parliament until her appointment as governor. According to media reports she also served in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
