Govt. to buy fertilizers from Balkh firm

AT News Report-KABUL: Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock signed an agreement with the Ministry of Mine to purchase 20,000 metric tons of fertilizers from a fertilizer factory in northern Mazar-e-Sharif city.

The agreement over buying fertilizers from Mazar-e-Sharif factory aimed at supporting domestic production besides boosting up farmers’ incomes,” said Minister of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock Nasir Ahmad Durrani.

According to a statement during agreement the minister continued that the chemical fertilizer will be distributed to 200,000 farmers in 356 districts.

The mentioned fertilizer will cover 400,000 acres lands, he noted.

Minister of Mine Narges Nihan, while praising MAIL for supporting of Mazar-e-Sharif fertilizer factory, said that this agreement goal is to lead the factory toward self reliance and pave the ground for extensive operation of this company in the domestic market.

She said that the factory will sell each sacks of 50kg fertilizer for 965 Afs to MAIL and the ministry will sell it back to farmers only for 625 Afs with a 35.24 percent subsides.

Purchasing Mazar-e-Sharif chemical fertilizer is an encouraged step for farmers to use the domestic produces. Distributing fertilizers also will help farmers to increase their harvest in a better manner throughout the country.
