Helmand NDS deputy succumbs to injuries

KABUL: National Directorate of Security (NDS) Provincial Deputy, who was injured in twin blast in southern Helmand province on Saturday, succumbed to his injures at a hospital in Lashkargah, the capital city, on Monday.

The Taliban insurgents placed two mines in sport stadium in capital city, while officials and other Afghans including farmers, were there to celebrate spring festival and Farmer’s Day, that went off, killing three people and injured over 30 others.

Following the blasts, NDS provincial deputy for Helmand, Mohammad Asef Khan injured and immediately shifted to hospital, but after two days being under medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.

Provincial Media Office in a statement termed his death a big lost. “He was making indefatigable efforts to bring peace and stability in the province.”

Taliban’s back to back blasts ripped through a crowd of civilians and security officials in Lashkargah on Saturday, killing three people, including Provincial Economic Head Mohammad Khan Nasrat, and wounded 31 others.

The blasts that has been claimed by Taliban insurgents, occurred in sport stadium, while people and officials gathered to celebrate Farmers’ Day and also celebrate spring season in Lashkargah city.
