AT-KABUL: Indian Premier Narendra Modi called on ex-President Hamid Karzai here on Frieday and discussed issues of mutual interest.
Karzai’s office in a media statement said that the former president termed relations between the two countries as ancient and time-tested.
He appreciated India for the support that she had provided over the past 13 years.
Hamid Karzai thanked Narendra Modi for visiting Afghanistan to inaugurate the new parliament house. The ex-president also appreciated the Indian prime minister for his speech to the Afghan people.
The former second vice president Karim Khalili, tribal elders, and scores of former officials were also present on the occasion who also termed relations between the two nations as historical.
Karim Khalili said that relations between the two countries are built on the strong foundation and that no one could destroy it. He added that Afghans would not allow anyone to deter them from having friendly relations with India.
Modi commended Hamid Karzai for his role in strengthening the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and India.
