Inmate commit suicide in Bamyan jail

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A man who was sentenced to 20 years in prison, hanged himself to death Wednesday in the Bamyan provincial jail, an official said.

A provincial police official Mohammad Ali Lakzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the inmate, Khaliq Dad, had committed suicide by hanging himself inside his cell Tuesday night.

Probe into his hanging has been started, Lakzai said, adding that the inmate was part of an eight-member terrorist group, and accused of carrying several subversive activities.

“We are yet to discover the motivation behind his hanging,” he said.

As many as 100 people are being kept in Bamyan central jail. Six women were also imprisoned in the jail.
