These statements were made in response to “Zabihullah Mujahid”, the spokesperson of the Taliban, who said that there is a difference between the scholars regarding the reopening of girls’ schools.

Heather Barr emphasized that the international community must urgently consider alternative education options for Afghan girls.

The deputy of the women’s division of Human Rights Watch also called for sanctions against Taliban leaders.
