Iranian Envoy: ISIS is the continuation of US presence in Afghanistan

AT

Kabul: Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan accused US of creating and funding terrorist groups in Afghanistan to spread insecurity over the region.

Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan on the fifth round of Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan, said that the role ISIS is now playing in Afghanistan is the same role that the US was playing under the pretext of bringing security in Afghanistan.

“Today, ISIS is supported by the United States and its allies, including the United Kingdom,” the special representative and ambassador of Iran in Afghanistan said, adding that the emerging of the Khorasan branch of ISIS in the region, which is one of the main concerns of Central Asian countries, is the policy of US towards the region.

Based on the statements of this Iranian diplomat, America is looking for an excuse for the existence of terrorists and insecurity in the region by creating ISIS in Afghanistan.

The fifth multilateral meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils on Afghanistan took place in Moscow, and was attended by high representatives in charge of security issues from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of the Kabul authorities fulfilling their international obligations to counter terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking, the formation of an ethno-politically balanced government and respect for human rights.
