Japan allocates $600,000 in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Kabul: The United Nations Coordination Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that Japan has donated $600,000 to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

OCHA expressed gratitude to Japan for its contribution via a statement on its official Twitter account. Earlier, the World Food Programme (WFP) disclosed Japan’s assistance of $13.5 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

Japan has maintained close relations with the interim government authorities over the past two years, providing aid across various sectors, including humanitarian aid, education, and healthcare.

According to a World Food Programme report, Japan’s aid to Afghanistan has totaled over $73 million in the last three years. Despite this support, some aid agencies continue to warn of increasing unemployment and poverty in Afghanistan.

The United Nations reports that only three percent of the required budget to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has been secured.
