AT

Kabul: The government of Japan has announced $18 million support to Afghanistan for essential mother and children vaccines through UNICEF.

This contribution aims to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable Afghan women and children amidst ongoing challenges in the country.

The embassy added that since the beginning of the year, the Japanese Embassy has distributed around 12,000 medical packages worth $1.2 million in collaboration with the United Nations. These packages have been provided to needy women and girls, internally displaced individuals, survivors of violence, and those denied access to healthcare due to gender discrimination within their families.

The embassy added that at the beginning of this year, it has distributed winter packages (blankets and shoes) to nearly 2,000 needy families in Al-Sai and Najrab districts of Kapisa province.

Japan’s humanitarian aid efforts in Afghanistan have continued to grow since August 2021.

The country’s contributions serve as a crucial lifeline for many Afghan citizens in need of assistance during these difficult times.
