Joint military drills kill 45 insurgents

AT News Report-KABUL: At least 45 militants have been killed and 37 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security force across the county in the past 24 hours, security official said on Monday.

In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Logar, Khost, Urzgan, Zabul, Farah, Badghis, Faryab and Helmand provinces, in which 45 insurgents including Taliban shadow governor for Urzgan were killed and 37 others wounded.

During operations Afghan forces arrested 25 militant and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry.

Afghan National and Defense Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 13 Taliban fighters were killed, 11 wounded and 15 others arrested in Shahwali Kot district of Kandahar, a stronghold with ammunition belonged to the enemy was also destroyed– six insurgents including Taliban shadow governor for Urzgan named Abdullah were killed, eight wounded and some ammunition destroyed in Khas Urzgan district of Urzgan–nine militant including three mine maker were killed and four others wounded in Nadali and Grishk districts of Helmand–six rebels were killed and 10 others arrested in Zurmat district of Paktia province.

Similarly, four terrorists were killed, seven wounded, and three motorbikes along with a mine maker factory in Balablok district of Farah was destroyed—four insurgents were killed seven wounded in Kohistan district of Faryab, three militant were killed in Zabul province.

In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, and 69 Special Forces operations conducted in 10 provinces; also, Air forces conducted 80 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including five strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
