AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: An official of the Justice Department in eastern Nangarhar province was detained after he caught red handed while accepting 100,000 Pakistani rupees in bribe, an anti-corruption official said on Tuesday.
“The arrested official had been using different pretexts to delay a legal case of a person at the justice department for one and a half years,” the anti-corruption regional office head, Ahmad Shah Nabi Mohmand, was quoted by Pajhwok Afghan News, as saying.
“To solve the legal matter, my department sent twice letters to the justice department, but unfortunately it remained unresolved,” he added.
He furthered, several officials had been arrested over corruption charges and referred to the judicial organs.
The arrest comes after the Afghan government showed serious attention to step up efforts to root out corruption from the government institutions.
Recently, an Attorney General Official said that the government had zero tolerance to corruption and also committed to counter corruption and disorders.
