Kabul bans motorbikes to curb crime

AT News

KABUL: A ban on motorbikes has come into force in the Afghan capital, Kabul, aimed at curbing crime.

The Interior Ministry said Monday night that criminals riding motorbikes most often robbed, mugged, and terrorised people. The ministry even linked terrorist activities to motorcycle-rolling criminals.

“Police will begin enforcing the law banning the use of motorcycles in a bid to end robberies and attacks,” said the interior ministry in a statement on Tuesday.

It said the action was part of measures taken to beef up security. The ban will continue to be in place until further notice.

It warned against violation of the ban. “Those who will violate the law will face the music and their motorcycles will be confiscated.”
