AT-KABUL: Kabul Police on Saturday said that 569 suspects who were involved in different crimes were arrested last month in the capital city.
Kabul Police Chief, Abdul Rahim Rahman, in a press conference said that police within the last one month busted several gangs who were involved in various crimes in the capital and its outskirts.
He said the detained criminals include bandits, kidnapers, carjackers, smugglers, terrorists and thieves.
“As a result of police efforts, a group of robbers which was involved in 90 robbery cases was detained. The muggers were robbing people and breaking into public houses at night time. The police also arrested 16 carjackers,” he said.
The police chief said the carjackers were transporting the stolen vehicles to different provinces for sale. After detention of the carjackers, the recovered vehicles were handed over to their owners.
He said that carjacking cases had been increased in Kabul City.
According to him, Kabul police also busted a group of abductors, involved in kidnapping of a child in the capital.
He also claimed of recovering heavy and light weapons from the suspected criminals.
