Kabul, Tashkent discuss broadening of ties
AT-KABUL: The National Security Advisor Haneef Atmar in a visit to Uzbekistan discussed key bilateral issues, including that of economic and peace cooperation with the neighboring country’s security and political officials.
In a meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, NSA Atmar thanked regional countries’ initiatives and efforts, including Tashkent Conference for establishing durable peace in Afghanistan and the region.
Both sides shared their views on implementation of the decisions and progress made during the Tashkent conference and decided developing of a joint action plan, aiming to timely implement the future programs.
The two sides also reviewed the progress on economic and security cooperation between the two countries and expressed satisfaction with the progress so far.
The Afghan delegation thanked Uzbek government for their humanitarian contribution toward helping drought-affected people, a gesture that deeply appreciated in rural communities of Afghanistan.
