Karzai calls for girls’ secondary schools to reopen

KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday met with a number of members of the national axis and reiterated his call for reopening of girls’ secondary schools across Afghanistan.

In this meeting, the speakers spoke about the problems in the country, especially challenges besetting unemployment and education of girls. They called for reopening of girls’ secondary schools and the return of women to work. They said that sustainable development in the country is intertwined with and dependent on the collective work of men and women in the society.

Former president Hamid Karzai said that education is the basis of the country’s development, and called participation of men and women as the best trajectory towards prosperity and well-being of the society. He stressed the need for the return of women to work and reopening of girls’ schools across the country.
