Karzai displeased, saddened over killing of historian in Uruzgan

KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai expressed sorrow over the “martyr” of a historian, Abdullah Atifi who was tortured and killed by armed men in Taliban-controlled area in the southern province of Urozgan.

Office of the former president said in a statement that late Atifi had national views and written numerous books and subjects on Afghanistan.

Former President called Atifi’s death a tragedy and offered his condolences to the family of Atifi. He urged the Taliban to denounce the war- which is in favor of foreigns- and live a dignified life alongside their countrymen.
